The Great DeBra Challenge.

So, there I was, in the kitchen, mulling over the idea of making money for Macmillan out of a Coffee Morning, and promoting the Loose Debra ethos of freedom at the same time. It's too easy to invite some friends round and ask them to eat cake and put some dosh to a jam jar for Macmillan nurses - there has to be a twist I was thinking... there has to be a 'take-away'...

What about a game I mused, maybe involving your bra? Emma, who was with me at the time said, yes, what about How Fast Can You Take Your Bra Off? Yes! I said excited, but cautioned, keeping your top on at the same time, no porn... and then Charlie (also there at the time but trying not to be), suggested it could be like a challenge and we could raise loads of money by making videos and nominating people.... Emma and I were now bordering on hysterical and fairly jumping up and down - we couldn't wait for Friday to come round so we could eat a slice of sponge and get our bras off :-)

So we set up a Just Giving page for Macmillan (do click on it and donate, if you haven't already), and waited for the bras to fly off and the money to roll in...

On the invite we asked people to wear a bra under a top they would feel comfortable NOT wearing a bra in. Clearly, this proved a difficult concept for some of my friends (OMG just look at Shop The bleedin' Tops for inspiration, how hard can it be?!), and they turned up in tight Tees, and see-through numbers, but that's pals for ya...

We quickly realised that a brief script was needed for the whole thing to flow. Something like...

Hello, my name’s...., and I’m doing the De-bra Challenge in support of Macmillan. I’m going to see how fast I can take my bra off from under my top, and nominate... and ... to do the same. The link for the Just Giving page I’m dontaing to is below/above.

So we held some notes up for the person to read as they unhinged their mind/bra all in the name of charity :-)

That morning we raised £100, but, due to nominations, are now on £220. Please do help us get higher by participating in our challenge and nominating your friends to do the same. 'Create a stir' as the good folk at Macmillan like to say...;-)

Thank you! xx
