Getting the Cold Shoulder...

Cold shoulder tops are great for summery bra-free styling. They draw attention to another part of the body, making cleavage redundant, and are perfect for warmer weather.

Bardot-type tops are everywhere this season, featuring elasticated neck lines that stretch across the upper chest to reveal the shoulders. Gathers in fabrics and looser outlines usually make bralessness easy, because nipples and breast or chest outlines cannot show through. This advantage is even more obvious with judicious use of pattern.

However, just to be absolutely sure that you can chuck the bra away as you welcome the sunshine, we've teamed our off the shoulder tops with dungarees. Chest bibs, distracting designs, and looser shapes - hope you like our styling :-)

Millie wears white, shorty dungarees from Top Shop, and the off the shoulder top is a years-old favourite, originally from Paul and Joe Sister.

Millie (left) is proving here that you can always yank the shoulder up should you feel chilly or provocative or...something! On the right I'm wearing my own old long blue dungarees from Top Shop, whilst the Comptoir des Contonniers top is from Fleurie in Lewes where owner Victoria sells second-hand designer and high street clothing. I picked up this cotton off the shoulder top for just £20. I love that it's getting a new life, and that my purchase is not contributing yet again to the ecological problems created by fast fashion.

Have you got any brafree styling tips to share?
